Craigslist Trolling

Turns out people are selling a lot more than the extra vehicles and the boat in order to pay the mortgage. Here's a few folks who are burning the lean tissue trying to keep the house:

Solid oak Cornor Kitchen Table - $500 We need to sell everything to pay our mortgage!

Couch & love Seat - $700 Need money to pay mortgage.. Selling everything! Need to keep our home!!

92 TOYOTA PICK UP $6100 I NEED THE MONEY TO PAY MY MORTGAGE. I JUST BOUGHT IT AND CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP IT.

$23K Beautiful Emerald and Diamond Ring Need money to pay mortgage.

Need $1000 to make mortgage payment

This is just a sampling of what I found. There are lots more.

It's pretty amazing isn't it.

Surfing CL rentals, accidental landlords are now advertising "teaser rates"

A quick phone call to someone would could barely speak english told me that the rent was actually $1900 a month.

Make sure you "flag" the listing in CL...If enough of us do it, the listing will be removed.

Put the ring in the "too good to be true" column. There are jewerly pawn shops who would pay a higher % of value if it were real don't you think?

OK on the ring, anything other then top of the line jewelry has a resale value of about 20% unless you find someone really stupid. This is someone hoping to find someone stupid. That is actually a pretty nasty emerald too.

My guess is that if could get any money out of it at a pawn shop, they'd have already gone there. I'm calling it stolen.

The internet is amazing. The same guy must have had a rental business of bouncing houses for little kids birthdays. He ran an add selling them all for $1500.

This is why the housing bubble is going to correct in a different pattern this time. There is so much information available at our finger tips.

I did a search for 1800 SF houses at metrolist.mls.com and there are many houses for $300,000. Two years ago, they were $425,000. They will be going into the $200,000 range by winter.

Fascinating and amazing anthropology.
