Bail-out Needed to prevent foreclosure - $9000: Seriously. I want to keep my house but am behind in payments since I have been out of work for almost 8 months. Property in active foreclosure right now--mortgage company says they can tack the overdue $$$ to the loan but I need to show good income. Have been looking, looking, applying, testing, applying, and rejected so many times I am now desperate.... Sharks are circling, and I am told to "walk-away..." or short-sell. In any such case, I will not only be unemployed but homeless.

Obviously, winning LOTTO ticket would be ideal. Unfortunate demise of a very rich relative(none that I know of) would be acceptable. A loan that I could afford would be alright. If you have spare money or really want to invest in an old lady ... let me know please. I really just need to bring the account up to date so I can find a job and get back on track. Thanks so much for reading this.

**Update** Scroll to about 1:30 in. It's a golden age for the repo business. One that will never end.

What a moron. I guess he's not quite far enough into the bargaining phase for Craigslist.

And you didn't think of that 5 months ago?

Gee, Chopper guy really wants to sell his bike. "Not a bike for pu**ies" don't think I'll be checking it out. Might just get my ass kicked.

The request for carpet/lino is pretty sad. I wonder how long the landlord has not been paying the mortgage, but collecting the rent. And too bad I'm sure the family can't afford a civil suit.

Well that didn't take very long.

This misery index stuff almost makes me want to be a renter for life. The sad thing is most or all of these people will end up in foreclosure anyways, they'll just have less stuff once they finally get there. The only family receiving my sympathies are the renters whose landlord was collecting rent but not paying the mortgage.

Regarding the person who is begging for a bailout - puuuuleeeeeeeze. They claim they'll be jobless and homeless if nobody helps them out yet they are looking for a loan they could afford. What kind of loan is affordable for someone without a job? Ultimately, they need income in order to survive anywhere, as a homeowner or landlord. Perpetual handouts won't solve anything - and in this case as with most, it sounds like they'd be better off without a mortgage payment (lose the house). I sympathize with anyone who loses their job, but home ownership is more of a burden than a benefit for people in some situations. I'm not sure why this is hard to recognize.

Human folly is a welcome source of profit to the wise, and its immediate negative consequences are a powerful teacher to the fool. We thus all benefit by it! At least in theory...
