Sacramento Unemployment Hit 10.4% for January

The just released jobless numbers are especially bleak for Sacramento, where the January 2009 unemployment rate hit a shocking 10.4% (pdf). Happy furlough Friday Max!

A friend of mine, laid off from a big silly valley networking company, applied to work for the US census in SJ. Pay was 22 and hour for 600 temp positions. 14000 applied and took the employment test.
