This is usually a contrarian indicator.

Wow, thanks for the data source (Thomson Financial). I see they are referenced in the WSJ and Barrons among others.

I did read that buying seems to be a good indicator but selling can sometimes mean they are supplementing their paychecks and can be a little trickier to read. BUT these numbers/ratios are very high. We'll see soon enough.

I'd never seen this indicator before, so that shows you what I know. Anybody have a longer dated series compared to the S&P?

One day does not make a trend but your graph foretold 'something' will happen in the near future, and today the markets are declining rapidly.

I am going to have to check out this data source in greater detail.

One day does not make a trendPure coincidence. When the stock market is being used as a policy tool of the government, anything can happen. :)
