Food Stamp Data: October 2009

Along with the October 2009 California DFA release, the US Census released their July 2009 population estimates this month, so I adjusted my population weighing appropriately to reflect the new data. For the state-wide data, the change was negligible, but there was a relatively large downward revision in the Sacramento County population estimates that has led to a large upward revision to the percent of county residents receiving food stamps.

Using the new population data, a shocking 11.4% of Sacramento residents were receiving food stamps in October:
