California State Worker Furlough Anthem

Sung to the tune of "Lodi" by CCR

Just about two years ago, state workers all got furloughed
Seekin' some budget savings, hoping to retain some gold
Billions cut, billions borrowed, and still no budget plan
Oh Lord, looks like we're furloughed again

He rode in on a recall, promising to mind the store
Instead it's the same old tricks, after seven years or more
Ran out of time and money, and places left to cut
Oh Lord, looks like we're furloughed again

The man from Hollywood, said it'd be easy
But even with good intentions, he couldn't get his way
State workers are now his scapegoat, for every failed plan.
Oh Lord, looks like we're furloughed again

I only we had a dollar, for every promise broke
We could balance the budget, and end this sickening joke
We'll try again with Whitman, who knows what will happen then
Oh Lord, looks like we're furloughed again
Oh Lord, looks like we're furloughed again
